ABOUT US

rjohnpot_edited.jpg

Hi, my name is Rodney Bill John. I am a proud full-blooded Native American, Dine' (Navajo). My clan is Nahoobaanii (Grey Streaked Ends People) and Kinlichii'nii (The Redhouse People). I reside in the northern part of the Navajo Nation that goes into Utah. I reside in the area of Aneth, UT.

I have 7 children, four boys; Robbie, Joshua, Jonathan and Joseph John, and two girls,  Jamaica and Sonja John and my wife Cecelia John. I am the oldest of 5 kids; Me, Randy, Ronda, Relinda and Roger John Jr.

My beautiful mom is the late Helen John who was a very strong and funny women. My father is Roger John, although we've had our ups and downs I am very humbled to enjoy life with him now along with my siblings.

I have been making pottery since I was a teenager in high school, back then I didn't have money. I made pottery so i could feed and clothe myself as well as my younger siblings. My childhood was a tough one on my siblings, mom and I which is why to this day we stick together. Through all the obstacles I have been through in life to this day pottery is my escape.

When I am ready to create a piece, every part of me goes into that piece. My family, my heart and soul, my sleepless nights, my pain, my blood, sweat and tears create this piece of art that is a image of me and how I live as a Dine' (Navajo). Making pottery takes me away from the realm of life if you will. I am in my own world, I am at peace when I am carving into that clay, the way it crumbles, the way it feels and smells. Once that needle cuts into that clay I am one with it and everything that I am and have become is put into that one piece of pottery.

With that being said I am more the happy to share it with everyone!

When you purchase from me your not just getting a pot. Your getting a piece of my life, my ups and downs. What started as a way to get by has now become my passion and will always be my escape till I leave this life.

Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU!
